A mate of mine was sleeping it off in the back seat of his locked Cortina parked in the Amoco servo next to the Camp Hill pub. Police broke a window to wake him up, drag him out, and successfully charge him with drunk in charge. They had the gall to swear in court that they thought he was unwell and broke in to give him assistance then found he was drunk.
Another guy got p+$%ed in The Valley, had a blue with his cook who grabbed his keys and took the train home to Petrie. He was sleeping it off in the car with no keys but was still dragged out and charged with being drunk in charge even though the keys were twenty miles away.
And again, a friend drove up James St. New Farm from the Queen's Arms and into his driveway, less than two blocks away, closed the garage door and whilst walking down his driveway to close the gates, was accosted by two police who said they saw him leave a hotel and drive erratically away, and required him to take a breath test. Egg on faces, as he had stopped at the pub to buy a six pack and had not had a drink. The wallopers must have been parked somewhere handy looking for an easy pinch.
