It's good to be back here on AULRO! I'm looking forward to the next SEQ trip.
On the way to Vic we drove with all the windows down and realised we were becoming a sand dune so we then drove with AC on and this stopped the dust completely - even bulldust - it is a very well sealed vehicle.
I guess a towbar would be useful for recovery points and for when we do eventually need a camper but I still have some bucks to invest in Grover before our trip in May (long range fuel tank, cargo barrier) so I'll put that one on the backburner for now.
The route we took through from Omeo was as follows - head north to Benambra - then east along a 4 X4 track past "The Brothers" and Mt Pendergrast through Limestone Creek and then left (north) at the Barry Way - this dirt road follows the Snowy and heads to Jindabyne.
We ran the recommended tyre pressure as per the Defender log book - 30 psi front and 48 psi rear - is that OK? I used my Staun tyre deflators (18psi) on the farm when we did some real 4X4 driving - Grover walked over stuff that had me in a sweat!
To those who are heading down to Cooma at Easter - you should get down through this country - you will really enjoy it.
Here are a few more pics....

Try saying something like...
"... gee, these off-road camper trailers go up in under 60 seconds..."
Then let nature take its course.
WOW she must have rode hard! We've never had the stated 900kg in the back so I think the most air I've ever had in them is about 38. On a high speed trip I usually run 34F/38R Around town empty it's 30F/30-32R. Try that and see if she rides better :D :D
As to off road pressures... that's a whole other "how long is a piece of string" style story...
Great pics and good to see and hear she's already getting dirty
Hey thanks - It took me half a day to clean so I reckon dirty might become the norm. I'll take some door seals pics tomorrow and let some air out of the tyres - thanks for the tip :D Everyone said 48psi was nuts.
Does anyone want to do a 4bee sometime soon? I'm on hols till the 21st!
I really enjoyed the pics and description of ure trip, :D:D:Dlooking forward to purchasing a new/2nd hand Defender next year once the KTM 450 is paid off.
But will never part with my current 2 door 76 RRover. I love it too much and it takes me everywhere I want to go, Just completed the Mt Wellington East West track in it last Sat, short trip notes under Tasmanian Trips this forum.
Thankyou for sharing ure time away with us all.:)
cheers
