Well done great report! We too had a great trip away in our one, 4 days on Fraser during the storms & 3 days up near Warwick playing in the floods! You really do feel like king of the road heh. I was going to post some photo's of our trip but can't figure out how yet???? I guess I'll have to read some instructions somewhere?

By the way I am running 30psi Front and 48 rear I find it give it much better handling on the Black stuff. On the sand we went down to 24psi all round but it was quite wet so a bit hard to get a real idea.

We'd be up for a trip a bit of 4bying somewhere around Brisbane but we have returned to work so it would have to be on the weekend?

Glad to be able to share our first trip with people who care! John - we look like being a little busy on the 2 weekends remaining in my hols so regarding a weekend day trip somewhere - I'll keep you posted - but glad your rig did the right thing for you on Fraser. And regarding posting pics - check out the sticky on the General chat page.

Regarding tyre pressure - I agree - I hadn't noticed any severe ride characteristics @ 30 and 48 psi - but will nonetheless experiment with tyre pressures a little.

Now regarding door seals on the new Defender - here's some info from a review in Auto Express - Land Rover Defender v Nissan Patrol (April 2007) - ..."despite the interior changes, including a reprofiled door top...."

So - first point - the doors are not exactly the same as the '06 TD5. Second point - I had Austral replace a few door seals (some appeared a little suspect sealing wise so we made sure they were all 100% sealed - i.e. - no gaps to "let the water run out". I figured I could pull up the other side of the raging torrents and just open the doors to let any water out that had got in.

I even got Austral to put extra foam on the seal leading edge to plug all the gaps...

So we were completely dust proof with AC on outside air and all windows shut - here is the dash after 2500km of dirt roads home and no wipe down....

Well - there we have it - I hope this helps with your questions, NM.

I had noticed the gaps at the front bottom corners of the doors and was planning to do the same thing.

Even with the small gaps overall sealing is definitely better as I find the last door to be closed always has to be slammed a little harder due to the air pressure in the cabin.

I noticed that the bottom door seals were all folded up on themselves towards the front corner of the doors and I un-folded them and gently closed the doors to straighten them out. Do you recall if your's were like this? It only took 24hrs of careful door closing to make them permanently straight as yours appear to now be.

BTW - In one of your earlier threads you mentioned the starter motor making a "burp" sound. I think you'll find it's actually the A/C fan (or something in the ventilation system anyway). Mine sometimes gives the same "burp" when shutting down too.

You won't notice this now since you have a snorkel fitted (and I only noticed it the other day because I was driving with the window open), but there is also a wierd "Jetson's car" type induction noise from the side guard air intake.

Solmanic - Yes, I had to strighten out the leading edge of the door seals like you did - with no further problems. The vehicle is so well sealed you can feel air pumping out of the LHS wingtop intake when someone else closes the last door!

The burp sound I was refering to is the starter motor - I use the glow plug, then turn the key till it starts. Upon release of the key, once the engine fires, I hear my "burp"! I have confirmed this is normal. :D
