Or Hyundais because their country is run by a murderous despot with nuclear ambitions

Or Hyundais because their country is run by a murderous despot with nuclear ambitions?

Seems somebody has forgotten that Korea was divided at the end of WW 2 into 2 seperate states the North (Communist) and South (Democratic) and that we fought a war in 1950's to prevent the Communist's from taking over the South.

Hyundais are made in the Democratic version of Korea, whihc has no nuclear weapons, except those belonging to Uncle Sam.

I couldn't give a stiff what people are driving. The Landys are pretty good, we use Toyotas generally at work and they're pretty good, likewise the Nissans, Mitsubishis etc etc etc. They're all probably pretty good, though none of them are without faults. We all have our own bias's and that's why we think our trucks are the best, because the vehicles qualities are what we want and so thats what we buy. One eyed people just can't see it from other peoples perspectives.

My X is bigger and better than your x

My X is bigger and better than your x is a common trait in all of man activities

It applies to all things BBQ's, cars you drive, houses you live in, pool cues, dogs, race horses, racing pigeons, women, fruit trees, veggie gardens, water pumps, football codes, football teams, cricket captains and so on.

Its called choice, your free to choose what you want and to make sure your choice is vindicated as being the best because no one wants to have chosen a lemon you hang **** on anyone else's choices.

It's not a question of Landrover being better than Toyota as a 4wd its a question of l am better than you are and my choices are better than yours.

Why do you think comedians make so make so many jokes about guys standing in toilets sneaking looks at other guy penises.

So do I interpret that as "My women is bigger than yours!" or "My X is bigger than yours!"

I read this list because I'm a pretty ignorant male wrt things pertaining to Land Rovers and I enjoy reading what others have to contribute.

This is a Land Rover Owner List:
I own a Land Rover - I don't worship it nor never will. This list is not necessarily for worshipers.. (although there are some here - bless their little souls)
I own a Land Rover - but I'm not a mechanic, nor do I want to become one. This list is not 'mechanics only'... (unless you need to be a mechanic to be an owner, in which case there's a nice blue D1 for sale ....).
I own a Land Rover - but am not an enthusiast, but don't decry healthy enthusiasm by others. This list is not exclusive to the enthusiast...
I own a Land Rover - but am not evangelical about converting unbelievers. This list does not require baptism for membership...
I own a Land Rover and am a healthy male. But I know a few women Disco owners -and they definitely are real women.... and this list is not exclusively male (hey NM..)

I own a Land Rover - and have never had so many oil stains on my drive way.
I own a Land Rover - and have never experienced so poor take off at traffic lights.
I own a Land Rover - and hope I never get a breakdown..............
I own a Land Rover - and wonder why my car is the noisiest in the street, even though it has a nice newly rebuilt motor, and all the Toyotas and Nissans (... and D2s) seem to be so quiet.
I own a Land Rover - and have never seen so much soot come from any of my cars tailpipe.
I own a Land Rover - and now realize that the Japs make better quality interiors and electrics.
I own a Land Rover - and have never experienced the roll around corners as in my D1.
I own a Land Rover - and enjoy the ability the LR has off road in reasonable comfort.
I own a Land Rover - and am still married...
I own a Land Rover - maybe I need my head read....
I own a Land Rover - because.... mmmm

One day I may even own a Nissan (never have in over 30 years of motoring) - maybe a 4.2 turbo diesel. For the time being I own and drive a Land Rover.
I think this says it all.

This forum is a broad church. I'm not as mechanical as some but more than others. Less enthusiastic than some and more than others. I'm loyal, but I also own a Jap 4wd. I don't bag other people's choices, but I also don't mind giving or receiving a gentle stir.

Vive la Series! And if we could just get them with soft suspension, comfortable seats, air-conditioning, watertight body, traction control, independent suspension ... we'd have a D3 Or a Pajero

I think it is more personal and overt when it is about your 4WD. Perhaps because we spend so much more on them. I was shocked at the vindictiveness of the comments I received on Overlander when I bought a LR. It was not just friendly ribbing or natural competitiveness.

To me it is about 4WDing and getting away from it all and like Stevo68 am amazed at the pointlessness of it all.

I spend a lot of time over there. Mostly they're into Landy's for the fun of it as there is always a bite. Gotta have thick skin, not take it all too seriously and have a laugh. That in itself as a Landy owner takes years of practice hey. Thats not to say that the odd one isn't serious, but thats sad for them especially considering they've probably never had anything to do with them..... or they've been bitten.

Ive owned or had as a company car Mitsuishi, Toyota, Nissan and Jeep as well as a couple of Landies.

I would never have gotten rid of my Triton if I hadnt gone through a marriage break up as It did everything that I ever wanted to do and was basic and cheap to run, the 80 series cruiser we had was a nice car, very confy and pretty capable but exy to run and didnt like the accident.

The Pootrol I had as a company car at one stage was a POC, but then again it had been thrashed by every person that had driven it (including my self) so no doubt that had a fair bit to do with it and Jeeps come in good and bad models much like LR's do and I would deffinatly own an Xj again or even try a Wrangler if I didnt need the room for gear.

The main difference is where you can add character to the Jappers, it's only the Brit stuff and the yank stuff that has soul.

When you own a Landy, it becomes part of the family and not just a car unlike most jap stuff and this comes from them being basically a piece of disposible machinery rather than something made for a motorist to own and love.

As far as the D3's go, I have been impressed every time I have seen a D3 in action but I still wouldnt own one as I dont have the money to fix it if I broke it and even though they are probably in my opinion and that of most D3 owners the best built LR ever they still have a lot of bits that I cant fix or weld to keep me going.

My choice of 4x4 was very simple, I am over 6 foot and very broad needed a good 4x4 with plenty of room for me as well as good vision.
My first 4x4 was series 2A and I must say I am looking forward to owning another 2A down the track.
I will go out on a 4x4 run with anyone in any vehicle as long as they are safe and carry the right equipment no mater what brand vehicle or recovery gear.
    PS Rovers rule no Question
I will however still take the micky out of bogged vehicles no mater who or what they are.
    cheers
