Hi Mike, I am a Watch Technician and am manager of Edments store at Belmont Forum where I have a very rare asset these days, an in store qualified watchmaker!! If you want more info on sorting out your watches PM me. Just to sort out a few myths, Seiko do not offer a lifetime warrenty, its 3 years. The only brand I am aware of giving a lifetime guarantee is Cartier but the watch does have to be serviced by them at hideous expense. It is true that Seiko Kinetic capacitors fail but they can be replaced fairly cheaply without a service and they are mostly upgraded from the original, of course if the watch stops a week later from a mechanical problem you would have to pay for a service. Those of you who have an old Seiko automatic have a superior product to the one being produced today even though a restoration will cost more than the cost of a new one it is worth the expense. My Seiko diver's automatic runs fast too. a bit annoying but I don't wear it everyday so I'm always resetting the time anyway.

About 10 years ago with another Seiko I went to the Seiko head office in St Kilda road Melb and they serviced it for free onsite. A mate told me about it. Don't know if they still do it.

Good watch isn't it, routine service is 8 years though on mine (co-axial movement). And it's very accurate!

I suspected the AULRO membership would have more than its share of horology types lurking around! Just took a seiko thread to get them lurching out of the dark corners!!! I have an SMP with the cal 1120 mvt
