Now you just have to find the keys so you can drive the thing !!

Hi All,
As some of you may know, I recently installed a bull-bar on my D3.
The insurance coy had advised me that they needed to be aware of accessories fitted to the car as, if they weren't aware, the accessory would not be covered, if damaged.
So I contacted the insurance coy & advised them of the change in accessories. The guy was very helpful, and asked if I wanted to change the (agreed) insurance value. I asked what they had as the book value for the car. It was significantly more than I had paid for it. I asked him if I could get the book value as the new agreed value, to which he said "yes". He then said that the premium change was $9.90, which would cost them more to process than that and, so, he indicated no change in premium. All good!
However, I noticed when the Amendent to the Certificate of Insurance arrived, instead of having "bull bar" listed, I had a "protector - bonnet". I also noticed that my rear light guards weren't listed.
So I rang them again & had the listed accessories corrected. Unfortunately, they have no item such a "protector - rear lights and so the lady listed instead "Body Modifications", which sounds like a "catch all", although I wouldn't rely on it.
New Amendment to Certificate of Insurance arrived today. NOW all good!
Best Wishes,
Now you just have to find the keys so you can drive the thing !!

Make sure you have a note of the conversation, in particular exactly what you told them you had fitted to the vehicle. We mere mortals have no idea what internal language the insurance companies may use to describe modifications or accessories so all you can do is assume that what they state on your policy is in fact their correct interpretation of what you said.
Guaranteed, in the event of a claim they are likely to only then reveal that "body modifications" does not actually include you particular type of accessory. I ALWAYS take notes of phone conversations with insurance companies. If possible, I then email the notes to them - it should all go on file then.
