Jeez that was lucky. I think a similar thing happened to Roothy from 4WDMonthly last year, except it was in the passengers side.
    Cheers

    Lucky all right!

Made me feel funny seeing that, very lucky man.
Mate of mine on a road job in the north of WA years ago had a star picket come through the floor of his ute and straight into his foot.
Very painful and kept him off work for ages but again he was lucky it wasn't a bit further back and came up through his seat!!!

I always thought the jeeps were a bit tinny, now i'm sure of it, not a particularly sharp bit of wood so either the floor is as thin as a coke can or he hit it hard/ fast.

I'm thinkin speed just might have had a small part to play in it... from the first picture he had a fair bit of road visible in front before hitting the tree. From the text you would swear the tree jumped out and attacked the vehicle!

You have to take into account the frozen conditions and the effects it would have on the road, the firewall and wooden stump.

There is a significant dent in my floorpan from a 2" branch standing up as I drove over it with the front wheel. Luckily I was going slowly.
Frightened crap out of me, made me sick to think about it.
