Yes Dennis, you're pretty right again - the current owner only had to give it a wash, polish and a set of new tyres......... I think.

I really enjoyed the day despite the early morning start. That's the first time I've had to use that foglight (driving into Windsor at 5am) and the furthest I've driven Madeline since I bought her, but there were no problems at all on the day. The convoy in from Artarmon was great - I particularly liked it when the Highway Patrol Officer got out of his vehicle and applauded us as we went past. That's a sight you don't see every day!
The location was excellent and the display 'extras' (flags, banners and props, etc) provided by LROC, yourself and others gave the display a polished look.
My thanks to Ian Harvie - owner of the African racing Landy - who sorted out my well-and-truely-buggered front wheel bearing which only revealed itself the evening before the Motorfest. We finished oxy-ing off the old bearing cone, skimming the stub-axle and replacing the bearing at about 10pm that evening. Without his help I wouldn't have got there.

Mate, I was convoying in with Ian Harvie and his Series 1 can move... I was sweating every time I saw a speed camera sign!

    So Ian was low flying?

That would be unusual, he mostly does his flying around 10,000 feet. Although I wouldn't want to have been with him recently when the valve head peppered the inside of the bore in his Gyspy Major engine.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    'Scuse the thread mining...

I had pretty much given up on my Landy, until I had a quick chat with someone at motorfest who convinced me that it wasn't a lost cause. Looking at all the old Landies there convinced me to come back to AULRO (which evidently I did!) and now I am up to my neck in a full restoration and loving it!

I was wondering if it was anyone on here? It was an older gent, and I know you probably spoke to a lot of people that day, but I was in a rather distinctive uniform and riding a bicycle. (not giving too much away...)

We spoke about chassis rust and holden engines and you gave me a stack of papers to join something (I think LROC-S) which I promptly lost.

Does anyone remember seeing me? (again - uniform and bicycle!)

    Hi Shonky,
I don't know who you spoke to at the NRMA Motorfest last January but it would have been someone from the LROC (Sydney Bch) - Possibly Bob Shannon or Iain Harvey.
You can contact the club via www.lroc.com.au or email secretary@lroc.com.au

Alternatively you could attend the next meeting at 8pm on the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Vintage Car Club Rooms, Queens Rd Fivedock.
