    G'day Ellard

Why not think about Airport Fire Services, have a talk to "Numpty" as that is his gig,he is on a fly in fly out roster system jobbie, or to Firey about the various Qld services, there should be no shortages of opportunities for trained staff, or talk to "Bushie"as he is emergency services of some type in NSW

    cheers

    Hi ellard,

I don't work for them, but been a vol for 14yrs. They advertise in the government section of careers. What portfolio would you be after? Operations, Learning & Development, Community Saftey, etc?

Although I haven't actually worked for them, a few friends are current staff so I can probably answer some questions involving certain aspects.

    Cheers

    Hi there

UncleHo - Its a small world, I didnt realise that about Bushie & Numpty.

Treads - I tried to look this morning but couldnt get any sense out of the RFS web page - I wouldnt mind getting into operations

Both the wife, Kids and I just a considering a change - it would be nice to see running water other than what we see out of our taps. Its lovely area in the Flinders & far north of SA but its bloody dry-hot and flies durring the summer. Moneys nice in the Mining Industry - but they pay you the big bucks for a reason.........

    Many thanks

    Wayne

PS Will send PM to Bushie & Numpty

    G'day Ellard

One of our other friends also worked with Numpty, Kieth H, who has just retired from Airport Fire Services in Brisbane, and is now playing with his 110 and 62 SWB 2a, I also have other friends in weird services, Firey is an Urban,Rob Hay in Corective Services and a few with blue uniforms they all work and live in beautiful Moreton Bay Regional Shire (C.R.& P) council areas, close to Brisbane closer to Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast/Fraser Region and then there is Medic455 up the coast a few Klms who's an Ambo so there are plenty of possabilities and there is not as bad a social problems as in some of the Southern cities, and Qld is very short of ALL trained Emergency personal, there are also several tunnelling projects on the go in Brisbane (a few years long jobbies) so trained staff in that area maybe the go

    cheers

Try this link http://www.jobs.nsw.gov.au/Start.asp and just select the Rural fire service under 'agency name'

For Ops you pretty much need a minimum of either the old Cert IV Firefighting Supervision or the new Public Safety Cert IV (Firefighting Supervision). Some frontline management certificates go toward the new public safety quals too.

There isn't much being advertised yet, but after Jan-Feb there's usually more on offer.

    Well many thanks

Uncle Ho - I think we need a postings in REMLR again - what people do for a crust.

Qld is very short of ALL trained Emergency personal
We have been loosing lots of our Emergency Services Personal to QLD as we are dual trainined (Ambulace & Fire etc......) - we have heard (roumoured) QLD may be the first Fire Service in Australia to run Red Ambulances.

so there are plenty of possabilities and there is not as bad a social problems as in some of the Southern cities
This is one issue which has stopped us in the past - especially with young nieve children whom have grown up in quiet protected communities.

Yup! you heard the rumour right, yes, the Fireys will turn up if there is nor a white one close, they are quite often called here on Bribie Island if all the Ambos are engaged on transport trips to Caboolture or further, there was an incident a couple of monthe ago, where the red truck turned out for a maternity job, but was saved when the white one arrived it is/would be possibily a lot safer for children up here, not quite as multi-cultural as down south, but the other temptations are not quite as blatant as down there, that is why we moved from Sydney, when the daughter was in primary school, have a talk to Numpty and Co and they will give you further info on the job front

    G'day Numpty's Missus

Yeah! but they mainly speak English, and most of the shops and businesses are advertised in English in comparison to Sydney and Melbourne

But I will agree with you it has become more multi-cultural in the last few years

    cheers

    paid fire fighting

Hi, I am a member of the NSW RFS, mostly volenteer work but has some paid positions. However, several times the RFS has advertised for paid workers to work overseas for a season, with training provided overseas. A season or two of this might look good on the CV.
