    hitachi pulling out of australia

    wow if you not worried about warrenty so much now would deffinately be the time to go out and get yourself a cheap plasma

    Celine Herit, Hitachi's communications executive, confirmed the company would be pulling out of all consumer products -- which include camcorders and flat-panel TVs -- but was unable to comment any further.
    In a letter forwarded from Hitachi Australia, managing director Yutaka Sugihara says the company will be pulling out on February 29 to refocus "Hitachi's sales strategy for consumer electronic products throughout the world".
    The company has scheduled a press conference for tomorrow night to explain the decision.
    Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

    that wont matter i got a hd plasma that i brought last year

    i think they will honor warrenty..............i wsa thinking more the hassel if you had to call upon it

    When I read that I thought the mining industry was shutting down!!!!!
    Hitachi excavators are regarded as the best,well above CAT.
    Our excavator is a Volvo,which belive it or not WAS a Samsung.Samsung build great excavators but their loaders are pooooo.Volvo construction equipment bought the company.
    The grader I pilot is a Volvo,great machine,actually a Champion,made in Canada.Same story they bought the company.BUT GIVE ME THE EQUIVELENT CAT GRADER ANY DAY!!!!
    LG also do earthmoving gear
    Why is there no Plasma screen in our sandpit toys????

    Interesting, Fujitsu dumped all its joint venture plasma TV manufacturing late last year and said they won't make them anymore. Their partner in that is Hitachi.

    most mobs with a bit of long service would remember them buying the ibm hard drive manufacturing deptand then not honouring the warranties on 60g hard drives that at that time had a 100% death rate before 24 months.. sent at least 2 biggish mobs broke if my memory serves me rightly...

    i certainly stopped selling anything with their name on it years ago.. and so did many others.... which might explain their current predicament :P

    hope their form improves for those in need.....

    fujitsu goes at the same time i think i heard but am not 100% sure on that side of it...
