This would partially be caused because all the std angles of operation have changed and the joints will have already bedded in on another area...

This is common, try replacing the uni's first....

    Hi Rovernit,
Sorry to hear of your problems & subsequent cost. I hope that all is now well.

Do you suspect that the mudhole was the one in which I was stuck (had originally planned on taking the D3, but on the morning couldn't find the keys). At the last minute, switched to the '93 Disco 200Tdi (with BFG A/Ts on the front & crap on the rear, due to A/T wall damage probs). Only mods to the D1 were an ARB bullbar (no influence) & Bilsteins.

The D1 did everything (except the hillclimb (how silly do you think I am - don't answer that!).

I went through the mudhole on the way to lunch, no probs. On the return, after lunch, was doing OK until the air dam dug into the mud. Stopped dead, until rescued by Disco Dave & another g'man whose name I didn't get. Thanks heaps guys.

Before being stopped, I had the bow-wave going & moving OK. Once stuck, the muddy water started seeping past the door seals ).

Hooked up the snatch strap OK & was pulled clear.

Through all this, the 200Tdi just kept idling placidly. Diesels RULE

    Best Wishes,

it could have been that there where sign of silt around the sensor and it did reach 100000km which I understand is that natural life of these sensor not meaning they all go pop at 100,000km but apparently it when to expect a let down

My old man who comes out wheeling with me all the time gave me some crap in his said in his wog acsent "yu stuped yu cud by a bloody snorkal for tha price of da sensir" his right to

as for the vibration it isnt that bad that I have to go out and do the uni joints i'll wait it isnt something I cant get use to for now

how ever I now need blocks to space the cross member more

Odd that, my MAF blew on the day the Disco turned over 100k, incidentally, it was also the first time i had taken it off road after getting it, co-incidentally, it was the first time i had taken it through a water hole, weirdly, it still blew even though it has a snorkel!, ran like a dog back to Sydney, idle was fine, but just would'nt rev, i took it to Ayres who showed me the Snorkel that was pretty much just 'placed' at the airbox, Airbox full of crud...oil was nice and brownish..

$800 bucks later, including MAF, Oil, Filter and labour he sent me on my way...

Brilliant 1st day out in it!

been fine ever since...still too much steering noise though..

    Hi Ray,
When you say the snorkell was placed in the air box? u mean the peice from the inner guard to the box? i went over all the sections of piping making sure they where sealed when i got the snorkell, only place i found it leaked was around the airfilter as the airbox didnt close down tightly enough, i had always planned to put some extra foam rubber around the seal to help that,, BTW its been through many holes that would have drowned it without a snorkell and i never had a problem?

Also MAF sensors are pretty reasonably priced at Karkraft in Sydney i think i paid 220 for one, thats the reason i got the snorkell! the water at the RV training ground at awaba, not the deep bit but the long bit, the airbox sucked in a spray of dirty water a fried the MAF, that was only at 60-70000 to ray so the one you replaced had barely done any work.
