Nothing more infuriating than having some fwit decide that just because you are about to overtake them it means that they must suddenly find the loud pedal and prevent you from doing so- i find this happens more with Landlooser and Playdoh drivers, they just cant let another vehicle ( especially a landy) overtake them.

added right of way can be gained in many ways.
some that i have found successful are allowing your car to weave back and forth, effectively taking up the whole lane and sometimes part of the one next to you. this is a natural occurrence in my 110, it has a manual steering box that is badly worn and steering is somewhat imprecise. the other way that works is to tow a galvanised box trailer around, this adds an area of strong, scratchproof body work that sends other cars running for cover.
when combining these two handy hints, right of way is achieved that an ambulance would be jealous of!

i think your right people seem to get upset about the 130 going past them and i ve never had the same problem in the gu patrol we have, ive been thinking about those wheel mounted blade thingos that sparticus had on his wagon they might help with lane changing

Big Red. It's red right? Say no more.

Red allegedly seems to be colour that antagonises other road users.

My observations are that the clowns on the road mostly seem to be driving red vehicles & if I spot one I stay well clear & sure enough the driver will do something daft down the road.

Hopefully, you are an exception, Dave, or need a respray.

    Dave,

Well you are definitely under a misconception them little flashing lights are (I now believe) repeaters. They are used by most road users to let you know what they have just done.

Hmmm indeed, I find P-plates make a difference. When I have them on, people enjoy cutting me off; when they've fallen off (which happens regularly) I seem to be treated no worse than other road users...which aint that special I agree.

On the other hand, I now have a conveniently placed sticker in my RH rear window of the County that alludes to my merging technique. I'm also vaguely aware that a few people have come up close and personal with it. It reads: Obviously you've mistaken me for someone who gives a...

Bright orange...cant miss it, in keeps with the amber indicator theme.

Thats the hint. I think its because Im up so high everyone can see me and how happy I am that Im having a good day (I AM driving a Defender after all) that they think they must do stuff to lower the quality of my day to theirs.....

I think next time I get a nudgee in the car park from someone who cant park a motor scooter sized car Im just going to chain it to the back and tow it along like a wedding can with a sign saying "this car failed to give way, yours could be next"

I had a funny one yeasterday.
I was cruising Eastbound through Trafalgar in Victoria in reasonably dense traffic.
It is a 60 K zone, dual lane carriageway with amedian strip and I am following an older driver who is doing about 45 in the left lane, I'm not overly concerned, there's plenty of time to get to where I'm going and it's a nice sunny day.A muppet in a Falcon Ute towing a boat is behind me, sitting right up my tail with literally mm's seperating us, I can see his mouth moving and his face getting redder as he's yelling at me to speed up and get the hell out of his way.
Theres a truck beside me in the right lane so I can't pass, not that I was inclined to anyhow.
Silly boy behind me swings out to the right as soon as the truck claers him mand sits mm's of the trucks date, all the time gobbing off at ME as he wanders past, I notice he named his boat FIGJAM, how appropriate thinks I.
We get to the turn off to the back road to the Narracan Pondage when he does it.
He turns left from the right hand lane with no room between me and the car in front for him to fit. He's that busy sitting up peoples a***s there is no vision of the traffic around him.
Oh dear, I think as a 75 horse Mercury slams into the bullbar.
I don't know if his motors damaged as he kept going up the back road and I was stuck on the highway. Heres the pic of the Prop center hub embossed into the Bullbar, it also punced out the blanking plate for the yellow flashy light thingy.
I wait with bated breath for the outcome of this one!boatprop.JPG
