    Sidchrome warranty

    Hi all,

Can you get Sidchrome bits replaced under warranty if you have no receipt?

Since it is a lifetime warranty, they don't need to know the date of purchase. But who do you return it to for the replacement?

    Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help...

usually the place you bought them from and you need a reciept as proof of purchase.

The sidchrome warrenty like the snap on warrenty IS NOT valid for second user tools (IE if you purchased my set from me even though they are near on new they are not covered).

We have a guy in a van come around to work every 12 months or so just before tax time to replace our work stuff if its needed.

Who keeps a receipt for a lifetime? I've got Sidchrome I bought new in the Sixties. I don't have the receipt.

Hmmm, this pretty much answers it for me.

The warranty is very useful - i've got a Sidchrome socket set and the plastic handle kept falling off the ratchet (with my hand still attached ) so i returned i to place of purchase and the just gave me a replacement (after viewing receipt). Very easy.

Reason i ask is i'm looking to buy a bigger version, but it is 2nd hand with no receipt. Looks like i may just have to spend the $ on a new one...

    Thanks Blknight.aus

I broke a 40 year old sidchrome spanner about 12 mths ago, took it into local Repco shop and it was replaced without questions.
No receipt required although I had to wait about three weeks for them to get the replacement in. I held onto the broken one until they gave me the replacement.

PS - They didn't ask and I didn't tell them that I had a one meter 'cheeter' bar on the spanner when it broke!

Sidchrome and Snap on dont care....

    Quote the snap on guy

"mate it doesnt matter what size bar you put on it. The tool should break the bolt before it breaks the tool"

to prove it he then put a 3/8 inch drive onto a 13mm head 8mmshank HT nut on ah HT bolt in a vice then cranked it up with a bar till it broke the bolt.

nominal breaking strain of the bolt (being a grade 10 bolt) was about 70nm.

I had a ratchet replaced that was a present for me. I just had to wait for the rep to give the OK. The replacement also failed after about 12 months so it was replaced with one of a new (actually their original) design, all without any receipts.

I broke a 1/2in drive long handle socket bar thingo which was JBS brand (Blackwoods own brand). I twisted the drive off it and it is now stuck in a Sidchrome extension bar.
I took it back to Blackwoods and they replaced the socket handle from one off the shelf and when I asked "How do you get the broken drive out of the extension bar?" they gave me a new JBS extension bar. They kept the broken socket handle but I kept the Sidchrome extension bar. Shouldn't be too hard to get the drive out of it.

I had no receipt although they did ask for one. The handle was about 4-5 years old I think.
