The grooves in rotors actually increase the surface area of the rotor (granted not by much but it does) the worsed that will happen will be if there is a rough surface for the pads to grab into they will get very noisey and squeel pretty bad.

Just go and see Jamie Allranges 4wd in London Drv in Bayswater 97622600, he will most likely have some on the shelf or will be able to get them pretty easilly and much cheaper than RangeRov.

RangeRov would be the closest though Maroondah Hwy in between Mitcham Rd and Heatherdale Rd in Mitcham, I cant remember the actual address but heading city bound is on your left about 1/2 way between those 2 rd's.

got my guy who used to do my sports cars todoit cost me 350 for heavy duty pads and the discs machined not to bad as i got priced about 70 trade price for the pads and about 75 per side for machining, for the lil extra its easier to get it done by someone and still go to work would cost me more to stay home and do it myself, i didnt even see it coming they were'nt makeing any noise at all then i went away for the weekend and halfway into the trip they started grinding so by the time i got home it was nasty

    Holly crikey batman,

Those pads must be made of gold or something as I just bought rears for mine for $37.50 pair (Ferrodo HD 4WD) and the fronts last time I bought them (got a set with some rotors on ebay that are in at the moment) were around the $50 pair (Bendix standard) mark from memory.

They take about 5mins per corner to change and the hardest part of the job is to push the pistons back in the caliper.

The grinding I couldnt say as I havnt had it done for years but it is only nessesary if you are getting pulsation through the pedal.

If your not confident doing it yourself though then no matter what you pay it will save you in the end as you may stuff it up and end up not being able to stop when you need to.
