    A juvenile male, looking for a nesting spot by the look of things.
    Have to keep an eye on him I think, I've not seen many around our parts for a few years.

    That's great, they are amazing little critters. Our local river has quite a healthy population which I used to see often while canoeing.

    There is a spring fed creek that runs into McKerlie creek about 500 meters upstream of where I found that little feller.
    We siphon that into a holding tank and that's our shower-toilet-garden and fire fighting water.
    If you are used to it it is drinkable but the city folk we have staying there don't have the intestinal bacteria needed to keep it down, so thay get rainwater.
    I've seen some really big Gippsland Spiny crays in it as well as Brown and Rainbow Trout up to around 30 Cm,
