Adelaide is supplied by the Mannum\Adelaide pieline.
Your water comes from the Morgan\Whyalla pipeline.
Mine at Tailem Bend, comes from that salty puddle at the bottom of the cliffs.

Unfortunately not. Recently drove from Brissie-Perth, and adelaide water was the worst we tasted along the way (by far!).

Surprisingly, the best was rainwater in a little town called haslam just before the start of the nullabor.

Getting back to the reason for the thread, I've camped along the Murray a few times and its great to have the freedom to virtually camp wherever you want, go get a bit of the plentiful river redgum firewood and make a great campfire. However I saw some absolutely brain dead people abusing the privelige by setting fire to whole fallen trees, collecting huge amounts of firewood and making fires way bigger than they need, toileting and washing in the river, hoomimg around and performing circle work on the flats all hours of the night etc etc. And the area now looks like it'll be restricted. So those few thoughtless people spoil it for themselves and the rest of us. And a few of those people seem to be regional locals rather than the urbanites who go up there for a holiday.

Yep, and they have started.
I grew up in Mildura and my Folks are still there.
Many parts around Irymple are closed for "Regeneration"
You cant drive in or Camp in the area's

Soon the Whole country will be closed down and after we say Sorry and everyone gets a $3/4million payout. we will be back to square one.

Yes the catchments are dry. Ask a lot of people in Adelaide if they know where there water comes from and they do not. That has been widely publicised in SA.
Go and have a look how much water is being pumped out of the Murray, just outside Murray Bridge. With population increases and the drought, it has increased dramatically over the last few years. Murray Bridge is home for me and I was absolutely gobsmacked with the state of the Murray and how much water was being pumped out into the creeks/channels that feed Adelaides resevoirs when I was over.
Some people from Adelaide care but a lot dont and that is fact, as long as they have water.
With the Murray the way it is Adelaide should not be pulling their drinking water from it. They should have to conserve water properly.
How can you say it is bollocks?? Most of Adelaides water at present is being pulled from the Murray and the Murray is very sick. It needs a combined real effort of all the east coast to remedy this. SA is not the only state at fault, but it still is contributing to the damage to the great resource.
Hopefully the planned desalination plant will help. This is something that should have been addressed all around Australia 20 years ago.

Yes you are right with the pipelines, but there is also a pump station at Murray Bridge that pumps water straight into the creek/channel that feeds resevoirs at Chain Of Ponds.
The Murray can not go on supporting a big portion of SA with drinking water. its just not adequate to maintain a healthy river and drinking supplies.
I do believe desal plants are the long term answer.
You just need to watch pay tv or interstate news and the only dam levels not mentioned are SA because they are not a true indication of rainfall.
I do hope the Murray does get a flush soon and access stays open for recreation.
The water corp over here has now imposed a 2km restricted area from all water resources and catchment areas. So there are a lot of what were recreation areas here disappearing. Hope it does not happen your way.

I think SA is trying preety hard.. look at the trends and alternative uses
