Its been a lot of years, but probably 10. Most often dirt destroyed the main bearing (at the bottom of the con-rod).
I was looking for reliability and to hell with the price, as I needed a way of pumping-up the occasional farm equipment tyre whilst away from 240v. I could have bought a generator instead but then wouldn't have had a decent portable unit to go 4WDing.
I bought a spare filter holder at the same time to make sure I didn't have to run it with no filter if I broke the holder.
