Have you thought about Spicers Gap and then continue on to Stanthorpe for some wineries?
I know this has been done to death but has anybody got any ideas for some trip locations around Brisbane.
I’m thinking more a social drive type trip not a hard core off road trip and I don’t mind driving a bit to get to the place.
I don’t mean the likes of the off road parks, something more along the lines of Mt Mee.
Although I like the place, I’ve done Mt Mee 4 times now so I am Mt Meed out and looking for something new.
Any suggestion for a trip in say about 2 months from now so there is time to do a recce or two to set up a trip.
Any suggestions for both a location and a date that would suite others if interested.

Hi lro11, I haven’t done that one, where do you start from and is it extreme or just a leisurely off road drive cause thats what I’m looking for, not interested in anything extreme.
Cheers.
Might be a bit extreme after all this rain but the last time I did the trip was a few years ago in my defender. You take the turn off just after Aratula on Lake Moogerah road and follow the signs. it takes about an hour to get through to the other side of the Cunningham Hwy a good day trip. hope that helps
How about the Kobble Creek (search for it in Google earth) area south of Dayboro. Don't know anything about it other than there appears to be tracks leading up to the Mt Glorious area.
Also the area west of Somerset dam and Mt Byron.
A good day trip (no offroad stuff tho)
Brisbane, Caboolture, Kilkoy, Somerset, Esk ( turn right at Esk onto Esk-Hampton RD, left at T intersection onto New England HWY, approx 13 KMs turn right onto Oakey-Meringaandan RD drive 21 KM and you have the Meringandan Pub and a great lunch ) we usualy come back to Esk then come via Wivenhoe dam, MT Crosby & Mogil.
Its usualy a nice day out the we very highly recomend the pubs meals, who knows someone may even know a bush track to get to some places on route
Keep the ideas coming and if one trip in particular seems to be of interest to a few of us, I’ll have a bit of time to spare soon as I have finally just about court up with my work for the first time in about 12 months so I’ll be happy to do a recce or two to set up a trip.
Whether it be all on road or most on road with with some side-tracks or a concentration of easy off roading is all fine with me.
I’m bored silly and need a drive so just about anything goes.
Cheers.
For a social day trip with a leisurely forest drive and a great lookout / picnic area try Woondum Forest Reserve.
About an hour and a half north of Brisbane, on the old Noosa Road.
I lead a club trip there last year and it was quite a pleasant day out.

Hi Drivesafe,
Do you have the Dirty Weekend in SE Queensland book? There's several drives in that all relatively close to Brisbane that are easy/moderate. We've done a few of them (Mt Mee, Conondales, Beerburrum), they are all nice drives and not very difficult. Plenty of other trips in it too. It's also got info on most of the 4WD parks around SEQ (Land Cruiser Mount PArk, Levuka etc) if you're ever interested in that.
Well worth getting this book if you're after day trips from Brisbane.
Cheers
Sean
