    Raping Robert and Martine

Rapping might be more politically correct

Read it this morning, considering they went through here in November ( I think Robert was on our October Harvey trip) Rob Robson is a bit slow on his story.

It did explain the extent of their trip although he didn't have much space.

interesting read - wasn't around to meet them myself. Seem a friendly bunch.

Couple of questions - how are they financing their trips?! Must cost them a fortune!
Also - if they have been in Oz for 15 months - surely their travel visa would have expired!!!

I believe that they finance their travels in a similar way that many Aussie grey (and some not so grey) Nomads do - they sell any assets not required for their travels, invest their savings wisely and live off the investment income. Sponsorship also helps as does 'hooking up' with Land Rover people/clubs such as exists here at AULRO and many of the individual Land Rover clubs along the way. Even with this wise management and friendship, they (like many of us) still have to watch their expenses and therefore 'bush' camp whenever possible - even on Sydney's lower north shore after watching the fireworks on New Year's eve!

Regarding their 15 months stay, it was broken by a jump across to West Timor from Darwin to renew their visa and a few weeks over in NZ just before Christmas 2007.

Having the privilege of traveling with them for the best part of a month of their time in Australia and being able to accommodate them for almost two months during their stay in Sydney, I must they that they are an extremely friendly and generous couple, are great traveling companions and are excellent chefs/cooks.
