I'm not sure if I should not care that people are doing that sort of thing but I think it's terrible.

It certainly seems that they are loving it but..... there has to be a trade off somewhere for enjoyment that impacts on the environment.

You mean like building a house in the Blue mountains

Or preventing natural lightning strike fires from burning?

Or running cattle for human consumption?

    Or motorways? Highways? Microwave ovens...

New vehicles, which everyone races out to buy, and people changing to new models every 3-5 years....

Or using fuel in a 4wd/car/motorbike purely for the purpose of a 'day trip' to just have some fun?

Got Foxtel? or watch international stuff off the satellites?

Guess what, more pollution is released PER LAUNCH, than the USA produces in 1 year

A large part of my living includes teaching people about the ozone layer and the green house effect - I am a refrigeration and air-conditioining lecturer, and I do this with the conviction that we are adding to it. I agree that we the human race must clean up our act if we are to have a planet that is habitable for us and our future proginee. But quite frankly I believe that the hype about humans doing all this damage is just that hype; yes we are adding to it that is undeniable, I just believe from all of the research that I have personally carried out I.E. reading more bloody reports on it that landrover magazines, regardless of all the hype and scare tactics there is not enough creedence put to natural climate changes.

My main point in case is this: why is it that all these scientists are able to so acurately tell us how much the world is going to heat up and all the other things that they tell us are the gosple truth yet are not able to determine when the El Nino effect is going to happen using the same computers to generate the information?

that is my personal and professional view and have argued it sucessfully with scientists in the past and I probably will in the future, but I still agree we need to do better.

    Well said mate!

On top of this there IS scientific data to show that CFCs reside in our level of the atmosphere.... Eg, arent light enough to reach the O-zone layer...

So someone care to explain how a spray can or R12 deplete the O3 layer?
    (rhetorical question).

The nice data on that scientific study showing the earths temp/ C02 levels from ice cores was an eye opener!

C02 only rises AFTER the Earth goes through its heating cycle...
And remains high till after the Earth enters its cooling cycle....

Remember Y2K... The only way to get funding to fix issues was to scare the crap out of people....

Well "Global warming" is using the same sales pitch.

Yeah but this mob has got the greenies on board so we have no chance of getting an unbiased veiw of anything to do with it in the media so in that case the uneducated voters will just go along with the extremists so again we will have no chance.

It is worth something though, with better emisions control comes economy which then in turn means you need to use less fuel (but then they increase the price of fuel so nobody win other than the fuel companies).

Being a Frdgy also i had to learn all about "Destroying" the ozone layer....
Funny how the hole was larger back during the middle of the "Industrial Revolution" that it is now.....

I try not to cause damage and i use the right equipment, but end of the day we as individuals are not going to make any better of it. The Big Company's need to have a look at what they do...
