parting company after 5 years
my 89 rangie has now gone to new owners
the list for 5 years and over 100 000km is
A set of maxiss tyres- still going maybe 10 000km left in them
cutting out some times- turned out to be loose earth under bell housing
Leaking valley cover gasket (service at time + other work) $650
Remove transfer box to replace dowel in plantery housing ($350)
lhs rear wheel bearing
1 set of front pads
2 set of rear pads (one disc was scored)
2 steering ball joints
recore radiator
Plus normal service work
So the old girl was a bit rough and ready but for me it has been a daily driver for work(self employed contractor, so it had to go), towed a 20 foot heavy glass boat all around Tassie, a few 4x4ing trips.
This has really been my first personel land rover experience (had a series2 years ago as a company work bus)so I am impressed. Just hope my disco gives me the same loyal service
cheers

Mate, if you juts have it, when you have the chance take it to a very good LR mechanic and service the timing belt. After that oil & filter change and it will last for long time.
Cheers
