You've got a couple of Ford dealers up your way haven't you Steve.
Seaview Ford and Clarkson Ford, have you tried the other one?
Hi All
That time again and I need to get my BA Falcon serviced.
It seems every where I try take the Pi$$ one way or another, but thats another story(ies) ..............
Can you recommend a garage or mobile-mechanic in Perth Norther suburbs, Joondalup area.
And yes I tried the Ford Dealer, never again.
**ps only one mechanic so far hasn't but he'll only do Landys,
You can't blame him

yes I could, I just prefer going by recomendation than pot luck.
I was thinking of just going to AutoMasters in Joondalup, they are all franchise garages but had a bad experience with the one in belmont.
I suppose it's a bit of a cheek asking on a Landy forumbut I have asked here about some odd stuff in the past and always got good advise.
Last time I took a recomendation from a Ford forum the garage made a right ar$e of the job. It's a shame there aren't any Perth mechanics who frequent this forum.
(PM's welcomedif there are)
Hmmm, I would stay away from Automasters up there. I lived up there for a long time, and have had unsatisfactory dealings with them.
They are very busy and are focused on getting as many cars in and out as quick as possible, and service suffers, both the cars and the customers.
If it is still there (havent been NOR in about 2 years) I was always very happy with the UltraTune opposite Harvey Norman in the J-CBD.
The owner/manager was always happy to explain problems and go through what he did with you.
My recommendation.
Thanks for that, the Auto-M in Belmont replaced a timing belt for me and managed to bugger a seal in the process, (or just not replace it in the first place,(as I asked)?) I ended up driving several hours up to Coral Bay before I noticed the leakand spent the week up there topping up the oil.
I though them being a franchise it may be different, Oh well.....
I was too they seemed professional but the second time I went they wanted to charge me $400, (before labor) for a part I got over the counter "OEM, retail" from the $Dealers for $100
Needles to say I never went back.
The garage just up the road from there is just as bad, (behind the servo). The car went in for a service, I specifically asked them to check the brakes, they said it was good for another 10k easy.
I checked the front pads a few days later which where down to the metal
I much have one of those faces that disreputable mechanics think, here's another one !
I feel sorry for the decent mechanics that do a good job and want your repeat business. I just need to find one
***Next house I would like a pit in the garage or a hoist and I'd do it all my self ***
Why dont you do it yourself? An engine oil change on a BA falc is no harder than a landy. I have to drive my xr6t ute up on some special blocks of wood to get the Rangie sized jack under. Apart from that its a walk in the park.

Steven I always get my ford serviced at Range Ford and they told me that McInerney was the next best.
I have never had a problem with range ford but then again I don't take **** from them either.
DO NOT go to Ultra tune or Automasters.
They only other bloke to get is the one nexted door to my workshop he's not the cheapest but he is good.

I would much rather do it myself ! But I hate the thought of working with a ton of metal above my head, I won't even do it with ramps.
Now if I only I had pit in my garage !
Hi Adam
I live near Joondalup so Bayswater is a bit far.
McInerney is just up the road to where I work. I took it there once with an intermittent back firing fault, (bad enough that the car would stall and a couple of times blew the air filter to bits!). They wouldn't even look at it, they said come back when it's happening all the time otherwise we can't diagnose it. I know intermittent faults are a PITA but it is their chosen profession and they would get paid for it!
I would have thought with all the computery bits in there it wouldn't have been so hard?
Another time I asked them to get a part for me they quoted, (verbally) 50 odd bucks, the next day I went to get it and there was someone else on the counter and they said "I don't know who told you that but the part is $150" I said ermmm the parts person, (female and very polite) who was here yesterday?
They still disagreed so I went to another dealer and paid the $50-odd bucks.
Maybe I take it too personally
I just think it's not too much to expect for any professional to do a reasonable job and get paid a reasonable amount. It's not as if I'm just throwing a case of beer at them or getting mates rates.
