We have lots of gravel roads in the Shire.
Been helping the "other grader steerer out" to catch up with maintence grading.
Ive done 3 times the distance in the last week as him,and got a call to the office "the best the road has been graded for a long time"
Drove over a road he did at the start of the week,needs grading again already.
He pulls a windrow across the corrogations to bury them,looks pretty,but blows out soon after to what it was.He has been told its not on but continues.
I push the blade in cut it hard and you are back to a solid surface.
The difference between the 2 methods,the lazy one who doesnt like to change his cutting edges has to go back after a couple of weeks to do it again.
My way I have to change the cutting edges more often,twice this week already,but you wont need to re-do my work for 5 to 6 weeks,or even more depending on traffic.
Less diesel burnt,less working hours,better road surface.
Been messing with the computer on the grader,its just over 12 months old,I found its burning diesel at 12.8L h on average since new.Burnt 14950lts already!!
The last week,Ive been getting between 6.5 to 8.9 lts per hour just by using the cruise control and high gears.Surely I should be able to tip the difference into BlackBetty
