Unless you feel there is a problem with it, just change the fluid and filter yourself.
Hi all,
I have bought the HYM1xxx (whatever it is) ZF service kit but don't really feel like doing it myself. There is a Fluidrive centre near me, would it be ok to let them do it or shall I have an LR specialist do it? I'm assuming a Fluidrive centre will have sufficient expertise to service a ZF.
What's the best option?

Hi Joel, I know ZF's are pretty bullet proof, but it is a wise move to keep it serviced as repairs can be costly if let go.
At the recommendation of my trusted parts supplier, I took my 89 Rangie with ZF auto in to J Pringle Automotive in Nth Melbourne. Not sure where you live, but that is pretty close to the city.
They send all their Land Rovers there for auto repairs/servicing, he is very experienced with them.
They had it for the morning, cost me $132 to have it properly inspected and serviced, (that was in 2004), actually I'm very overdue for another visit.
I have no affiliation with J Pringle, just a happy customer!
They are at 27-35 Leveson St Nth Melbourne, 9329 9260.
Hope this helps, Cheers.
unless your going to adjust stuff its no harder than changing the oil in your engine except you remove the pan to pull the filter out, then replace the filter, gasket, tighten the bolts to spec and refill with oil....
a routine service is really that simple.... (really picky people will also remove the lines to the cooler and flush them and that sperately)

If you think you're in front on the deal, pay it forwards.
Is the ZF oil/filter etc every 40,000 still ?
