I think for touring Australia, having good accurate maps and a good GPS will improve your experience immensely.
You could start by looking at the HEMA maps. Welcome to Hema Maps Home Page
They have both hardcopy and digital maps that you can run on OziExplorer on a laptop or PDA in your vehicle. The HEMA maps also have a lot of information on the back re places to see.
There's other good maps around too.

Oh And bring a Viscose fan with you . Cheap to buy and belive me you may need to put it back on . Kenlowe are ok but not good enough for the heat in the outback. Seen far too many time cars with kenlowes over heat and then have a viscouse put back on and be fine. Just my bit of advice. Last thing you want is a truck over heating in the middle of no where

Had a slight problem with Kenlowe fan in Portugal over Xmas/New Year. On a long uphill low box climb the engine got rather warm. Did 1500 miles after with no problems as long as driving at reasonable speed. Head gasket has been renewed, there was some damage to old gasket but this was done as a precautionary measure. New Kenlowe has been fitted.

Viscose fan will be part of the spares kit with me.

All advice about spares, camping kit etc gratefully received.

Not sure when be in Brisbane area likely to be late July/early August.

    Regards

    Brendan

    It's not interesting at all

I posted this image in response to an unfair moderation (since a picture is worth 1000 words):

Someone mis-translated it and asked "Why do you want to be the Fortune Queen?"

Following this blunder I attained "that" name.

Yes, unfortunately Priscilla did come in to it as well (or should that be come out?). The British have a fixation with that film.

If you'd like a place to stay for a night or two, and a place to leave your Landie securely whilst you are up in Singapore then give us a hoy. We live here:

so there is plenty of room to throw up a tent or whatever and a friendly Dobermann to guard your truck! 25 Kms out of Adelaide up in the Adelaide Hills.

Send me a PM if you want more details etc. You'd be most welcome.

    Cheers
    David

There are people who spend all weekend cleaning the car.
And there are people who drive Discovery.

Never even heard of that film, nor has my partner.!

Thanks for your offer David (Spudboy) pm sent.

Does anyone know what Australian customs/quarentine service like with tents? Or would it be simplier just to buy camping gear in Australia?

    Regards
