Here we go!!!!!! How old is old enuff to leave home?
Pricelessbut so thoughtful... all my parents did was send me to single sex school for 12 years.
No one has mentioned Cod? Vaguely palatable...
I love fish too.
I love yellowtail and tuna best but must be fresh and raw.
To me, a seared Tuna steak is a monument to tastelessness!
I love Red Emperor, I worship it!
Blue Groper, Barra, Coral Trout, whiting, Canadian Salmon, snapper, and then there are all the crustaceans....
I like bream too but I can live without trout .
Hate cod, really hate cod, like mullet tho!
i love red emp too, the only drawback in QLD is the min size is 55cm, the best eating red is about 40cm when they are still striped up??? oh well?
I may need to change my ideal... the best is a fresh caught trout, into the frypan on the boat with some fresh bread and a bit of tartareor fresh speared cray seared in butter on the boat... or a nice longtail / yellowfin sashimi with appropriate condiments out on the briny...
fresh is best!

Huon Salmon - sushi style - raw on rice with some wasabi & soy sauce.
Silver bream steamed for 10mins, served with warmed thin sliced shallots, ginger, soy sauce & a little olive oil.
My mother in law is a great cook. She's just got me eating oysters.
i have a funny story about that
once at a BBQ they had some sushi on a plater for the guests
well this little girl around 14yrs thought it was something else
so i said ; be careful love that stuff is really hot
she looked at me in a disgruntle manner and walked off around the otherside of the pool..........
she had at a guess about 1 tablespoon full
i said to the people i was with, hey guys watch this kid
well we watched in horror as this kid put the whole lot in her mouth
you should of seen her face
she spat it out as fast as she could but to no avail
then went down on her hands and knees trying to drink the pool water
she wasn't a happy wasabi eater

Believe it or not Ben Lexcen of Yacht designer fame did exactly the same thing....at an intimate Sushi restaurant where he was a guest of some Japanese V.I.P's who were negotiating with him.
We warned him, the Japanese host got alarmed and had the interpreter warn him, but he went ahead and did it anyway. He coughed and snotted green slick all over the place.
The Japanese host regarded it impolite to laugh at his guest's discomforture but the Aussie woman interpreter and I ****ed ourselves.
I thought I would top the evening off by introducing him to Ooni!
Disappointingly, he loved it.
Here's some fishy trivia for ya.
1788, the first fleet has been in Sydney Harbour for a few days and a bunch of blokes go out to do some fishing. They meet up with some of the local Aboriginals and get into conversation about fishing - I'm using conversation in the widest hand-gesture interpretation - the Aboriginals give them some pointers on bait and best methods of catching fish, all the usual things you do on striking up a conversation with a local when fishing in a new spot. The locals also made very clear that you don't eat Mullet, taste like crap. Again with the very clear sign language and hand gestures.
The more things change.
Cheers
Simon
