Red face Desparate and ROVER less UPDATE...

Well as it turns out after pulling the head off the Landy I discovered the collet had striped off Number 3 Valve (why I dont know?). Fortunately - the block escaped unscaved and looks as new. However the head, piston etc.. are stuffed. I now have the job of sourcing parts and prices, ANY HELP IN THIS AREA WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. I'm also doing the timing belt - any ideas of what else I should do would be great. BLKNIGHT was right on the money, but I don't know if incorrect installation was a cause. Thank you for your help and the workshop manual is invaluble.

thats a bugger mate, i feel for you, i have just had to do the injector pump in my disco initial costs were about the $1200 mark but it blew out at $2400.

Alan at British 4wd in Melbourne and an office in tassie aswell i think has always offered excellent service and prices- 0362349444

Land Vehicle Spares at Silverdale in Sydney might be able to help you out with a S/H head- 47741741

Bruce Davis at Annangrove did the work on my injector pump and he was nothing short of sensational, he might be able to help with some modifications you can do during the rebuild to help improve performance- 96791978

    Hope this helps. Matt

should this thread be in technical??

so...... you've got the front cover off???

if not you'll need some some special tools to hold & pull the h/balancer (pully), also to time the pump when fitting the new belt

if there's no fueling probs you won't have to detach or service the injector pump,

leave the heater plugs out of the new head until you've fitted the belt

check pushrods etc for bending etc

change all idler bearings t/o on all belts

IMHE I've found karcraft to be very helpful with parts

pm me with your tel no if you need to talk it over - regards - Laurie
