4WD tracks in Darling Scarp (WA)?

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone in WA new if there were some good 4WD tracks east of Perth, up in the hills. Maybe some around Mundaring, Gedgeganup, parkerville?? Even better, some tracks with free bush camping along there length.

    cheers
    Jimmy

Been to the powerlines yet??? No camp sites that I know of - but you could camp anywhere.

Don't know any other tracks that offer any interesting 4x4ing - plenty of tracks there though.

Isn't there some good tracks up by Mundaring Weir some where?

I have never been but seen lots of good pics. I'm sure someone will tell you.
I think some of them have been closed but some are still open.

The only accessible track now is the powerlines, there are some very "interesting" tracks out behind the weir but all are closed off.

Used to be a great track just near Mundaring Weir Hotel but I think the people you hate 4wdrivers closed that too

If you want bush camping I think dwellingup is best

Powerlines track goes Mundaring to York under the powerlines and its a track that has detoriated over the few years l have been living in Perth as boys with big tyres and raised suspension likes going out in wet weather and ripping it up to scramble up places at speed.

Wont be long before it wont be accessible for standard vehicles and probably be closed off permanently as so damaged

??? Really? Every time I have driven it there were easy options around all the "interesting" bits. I think I could drive a Subaru outback through most of it unscathed.

When I first got my 110 over to Perth in late 2006 I went and drove it in my standard 110 with worn tyres on 45 psi and drove the hardest line 9 times out of 10. I went out there a couple of weekends ago and drove ALL the hardest lines in my series IIA, and Bojan from here followed me through all but 1 in a stock 90.

I don't like all the yahoos that go out and drive with a beer in one hand and the steering wheel in the other, or people that go out there deliberately every time it rains, but personally I think the track could stand to get a bit more "deterioration" to make things more interesting.

I'm thinking of taking it on in my 110 (TD5) this weekend. It sounds like a good track and with a hilux and triton following it should be fun.

Are there any places to set up camp along its length?? or perhaps some spots around york??

How long does the track take to complete??

    cheers

    Hi Jimmy
Dwellingup is the go for camping, awsome place, not challenging for 4x4 trips.
Powerline track is great for Perthites, easy half day trips.PRETTY CHALLENGING IN PLACES!!! not a camping area in most of the area as its water catchment.
GOOGLE "Lane Pool Reserve" for Dwellingup or "Perth powerlines track" for more info.
HARVEY is where you need to play/camp,try a google on that!!! AWSOME 4x4 and camp sites!!!
