Don't get me started on H/C refrigerants - Bl**@y Faye Lopo! When she was transport minister she banned H/C refrigerants in NSW cars because it was 200-300 grammes of a flammable gas. (I was running Care 30 as a replacement for R12 - and still am)

But it is O.K to carry around 80 Kg of explosive LPG in NSW cars.

Go figure?????

I agree with 101 Ron. Don't decant from an upside down supply bottle. I worked for a short time, long ago, in the domestic gas industry. It was impressed upon me that LPG was bloody dangerous stuff and not to be fooled with. There have been some frightful accidents with the stuff. A near neighbour does the decanting trick at his place. He fills all the bottles for his fishing club. He can't see anything wrong or dangerous about this. I asked him to let me know when he is about to start so I can remove my family to a mile or so distant in case he blows his 100lb. bottle.

Ladas. Do you know of any refrig. fitters in Brisbane licensed to use the hydrocarbon refrigerant?

A 100lb (45kg) bottle went airborne at the first Melb Grand prix when they were setting up. Luckily, when it got up to 50ft it went left into a carpark, if it went right it would have gone into a marquee with 200+ people in there:eek:
It rolled away torching several cars and ended up setting fire to a corolla where it came to rest.
Never heard about it? Well the Albert park protesters were there to see it all and took heaps of pics.
Never doubt Geoff Kennetts sway with the media at that time.
A bit of trivia, the guy who caused the accident - he backed his truck under a low slung high voltage cable and the supporting post in a 44 gal drum of concrete fell on the bottle- was Gil Tucker of Cop Shop fame.

Oddly enough you dont have to have a licence to use HC refrigerant.

.................but I would prefer it if you did.

I will check with the office to see if we have any w/shops on file who use HC's.

No I didn't know - lucky my brother is a fridgy and we still had a bottle of Care 30 to use just for my car - that is if I could ever get him to come and do it (even paid him up-front for work that never got done.)

Yes I would like a copy of that letter if you have one! :) :)

Do you know anyone in Sydney who services/re-gasses Care 30 systems in Sydney?

I was told that in Qld you have to have an LPG installers certificate and have done the course. That fridgies were required to do this.
