Well, if you go to a showroom to buy a Defender, and are told you can have white only and have to wait until July, AFTER THE PRICE INCREASE, as I was yesterday, it is no ******g wonder they only sell 100 a year!
They are lucky to sell that many. There are obviously 100 very patient, forgiving Australians
As far as I am aware, LR Australia are selling / have sold all of their allocated stocks of Defenders. They can't dictate to LR UK as to what they get, merely make suggestions as to what they would like. If your Dealer can't sell you one, I am sure it is because they can't get one to sell to you. All Dealers like to sell cars, it is part of how they make money!
Good point. So poor sales can be partially attributed to "Clowns" selling a good product.Quote:

also, the bloke i spoke to said that it would take a couple of months to get a new 110 into the country, unless you want white (i do) and the dealer can do a swap with another dealership.

Maybe because of their inept after sales service and do not wish to employ extra people to their call centre, they keep the imports down
Less cars sold = Less complaints
You folks have got it in one - they just don't have the facilities to make enough LR's for the demand...
BUT they don't make enough for be able to build more factories to be able to build more vehicles.....
Australia gets its allocation and that's it, when that allocation is sold well "I'm sorry you'll have to wait".
Why would LRA spend a fortune on marketing when they know they'll run out of stock in a month? All that would do is give them an even worse reputation (hard to believe, I know).
Would be better if they went back to CKD form and we put them together over here - might be able to pump out more vehicles at least and hey there's a nice Mitsubishi factory down south that will have some spare capacity shortly :angel::cool:
My salesman said that any special orders from about now ie all Defenders will be subject to the price increase. If you have already ordered one you will be ok I suppose.
Anybody else been told there is a price increase?
I haven't heard anything, but I am not a salesman. Mind you, we haven't even seen a new Defender here. We keep getting told the same thing that everyone else is told "Maybe next month" :eek:.
