'Old mate' utes are what I've always known as the type of ute the OP described. HZ/WB ute with oversized bullbar, mudflaps, driving lights, antennas and a heap of stickers on the back window. I can't remember where I first heard the term but I think it's derived from the US 'Good Old Boys'.

got ya...we also have a member here "Olmate" , I thought he had a nice ute..that's why i asked...heheh..

When my boys are old enough to drive, and they came home with crap heaps like these, i will take the gas axe to them (cars that is) then disown my kids.

I just don't like em, if you want a truck then buy one

I don't believe this one, unless it had 1000hp or 185 tyres and an open wheeler

The Corvette Sledgehammer by Calloway didnt have 1000hp and that spun 19in tyres at 160kph so its possible
It was the fastest non production car of its day at 423kmh

It had somewere over 600hp and could spin wheels at virtually any speed in the indirects and to almost 100mph in top. This was 1972 and had only 7" rims on the rear and ER70H14 tyres, pretty much the high performance shoes of the era. Standard rims were 6". Had to run it on 115 Avgas, or leaded super with 1:5 methyl benzine. 12:1 compression ratio. 4 speed manual trans, which made for difficult and interesting rides in the wet. Not the original street hemi engine that it was built with. A previous owner had fitted a Mopar Performance drag race spec. engine with two Carter four barrels. I changed these to a modified Rochester Quadrajet for driveability. sure could use fuel with either setup. 6000rpm in the indirects through four x 3" tailpipes sounded like the rolling start at the speedway.
