They have a huge problem with rust in the U.K. all makes and all models - they still put salt on the roads to melt the black ice.

I am english, I havent been here very long. They dont rust yet. They are too new a model to have any real rust issues on D2's. Yet.

yep the older ones d1's and so are rusting away but not any d2's I had seen / used / etc etc

its a wierd place for rust but the rest is just where stonechips etc are i think

andy its 3k cheaper than that and i havent started bargaining yet... i may not either... only accesory is a nudge bar which would look good on mine :angel:

That's O.K. Pete, - I just couldn't accept that any vehicle (barring composite fibre vehicles) in a climate where salt is used on the road is immune to rust. We usually equate UK roads in winter as equivalent to regular beach driving out here.

I am a member of several UK LR Fora and als the LRSOC, so have seen some UK vehicles with chassis so eaten by rust worm that we would discard the entire vehicle. In the UK however they attempt some significant chassis restorations and even replace whole chassis, which is a difficult issue for our registration authorities to resolve.

my experience of UK vehicles in general is 10 years and it's ready for the wreckers yard unless it's enthusiast maintained or garaged, (most aren't)

I saw a lot of 5 yo cars that were rusting badly, i had a nice little fiat strada Y reg that was at the time 8 years old and it had only one small rust hole in a front wing but the front edge of the bonnet was like sieve - but this car was good compared to some of my friends cars.

o c'mon... :D the fiat strada rusted nearly as quick as the alpha romeo's did in the UK :) the alphas would of lasted longer if they hadnt painted them!!

cars there are much better at resisting rot now.. even giving 10+ year corrosion warranty too.. if you have it checked at every service which no dealer ever does, making any claim invalid!

I think UK has an anti-perforation warranty? ie if it's not a hole it's not under warranty !
