Hi All,

Went camping at xmas and whilst travelling from Exmouth to Coral Bay (WA) it rained. (fairly rare event!)

Along the way, there were a number of clay salt flats (white to light grey) that had sheets of water over them which we had to traverse.

When I got home about ten days later, I thoroughly washed the engine bay and chassis, but now have a very light film of corrosion on all of the aluminium parts and a light dusting of rust on the chassis and bolt ends etc. Even the exhaust manifold is a brighter shade of brown.

Someone told me that certain clay/salt combinations contain caustic substances that cause accelerated corrosion. Not sure if that's true, but it seems more aggressive than just salt!

I don't thiks it's going to develop any further than that, but it does look unsightly, so I need some help to get rid of it.

I tried Lanotec, but that just made it all sticky for beach sand to collect on to.

Anyone have any experience of the same and or what is the wider landy world using to keep engine bay and underneath side corrossion at bay?

Thanks in advance.

Marty.
