    Did the L.R Experience Course Today

    Hi All
    We did our training course today on the Defender with our loacal Land Rover Experience Outfit.
    I found out that the anti stall is a bit of pain in the butt. The motor revs up and down and when you least need it the speed picks up and one can't break against the antil stall to a extremely slow crawling speed.
    I am not sure but it seems like my traction controll is very slow to react or it dosn't work at all.
    Have a look at this video clip and see if you think it is working.
    I must say the discoveries with us were awesome, no slipping and skidding like me. The trainer who also has the new fender said the responce systems for T.C are far more refined on the disco. They were totally unstopable.

    Your aware when the TC kicks in it there is a very noticeable noise and the light comes on? It only usually stays on for a few seconds but you would always notice it in my experience anyway. I find it a hindrance in the sand.

    It looks like the traction control isn't working

    Pressure

    The pressure was high but the sand was actually quite hard.
    We were not told to lower pressures because it was an easy route just a few axle twisters to demonstrate t.c.
    The light did come on and there was some banging as the breaks applied but it didn't seem to help much.
    The BFG muds should have given plenty grip compared to the road tyres on the disco's.
    I will ask LR to check it out.
    Is there anyway I could safely check the TC in the driveway on a set of jacks or is that a dangerouse method?

    I wouldn't be too concerned about the capabilities issues yet, it does take a while to get used to how the systems work (especially if your last LR was a Series III) and the intricacies of the vehicle.

    Even moving from a manual disco to an auto disco, it took a while to get used to the way the two accelerator pedal responses differed. I found it the auto I was far too gentle pulling away.

    I could be wrong but I think your traction control is fine, you just didn't keep the power on long enough for it to do its stuff. There is wheel spin but I wouldn't call it excessive and you can see the brakes starting to be applied but then you come off the power to try again.

    Watch the first 40 secs of the video below. It's hard to see but the car stops every so often and looks like it is stuck, it then lurches forward as the traction control figures out what to do.
