I was going to go with shannons but I asked straight out if they cover for offroad and they said nup, no way! I do have the series 2a with them and it's 200 a year which I'm happy with but no way I'd do it with the disco.

Wrote my D2 off. Rolled in on a farm track. GIO paid up, no issues, and couldn't have been more helpful.:)
Can't compare many - but can vouch for GIO.
Have (unfortunately) had 2 write offs on dirt - one a road, one a track and both times they have come to the party 100%.
From my understanding the rules (sure to be corrected if wrong:p) are:
The track/road must be gazetted (i.e. on a published map), you must be legally allowed to be there and the vehicle must be capable of being there.
The last one is a tad dubious if your crawling over rocks or swimming up river but generally most 4wders fit the above.
When i got a quote on my 110 the 'voice on the end of the line' pointed the above out. So it comes down to price IMHO.
Shop around but I personally wont be moving from GIO in a hurry (oh they are now part of Suncorp).
But ask them straight up - most will explain what is and what isn't covered.
Hmm, when I Googled them I got this link to the ExploreOz forum and there are a couple of very unhappy customers there...

Resurrecting an old thread here ;)
I need to revisit my insurance now that I'm buying a slide-on camper.
We're currently with Comminsure and they've confirmed two thing today, they won't insure the camper, and we're not insured for ANY damage arising from a water crossing.
Can I ask if anyone knows a good insurance company that will insure against accidental offroad damage that includes water crossings?
I've looked at TCIS but the policy is $1000 more that we are paying now  and thats before I add in the cost of the camper.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
