More importantly, how much is it going to cost to fix the reason you need a re-gas?

Gas is normally $90-$120 a shot, but if you have leaks or you need a conversion to the latest gas you WILL be up for more. How much, depends on how much!

Hmmm, curious to know whether the repairers normally write up the /kg charge or how much they actually use ??

The retail price of R134a should be around $39 including GST, maybe a little more for the stuff with the fluro dye so beloved of the auto A/C blokes, and the drop ins/R12 replacements like 34M around $71.50/kg.
I'm guessing the HC stuff is a bit cheaper than that.

IIRC most cars take between 550g and 750g, with earthmoving gear and tractors taking up to 1.2kg or more.

the bloke I go to charges range fr $50 to $100 over all my vehicles (and it's once only every 5+ years for each)... seems to depend on his mood... he cheerfully works on county aircon too so i don't argue

    G'Day Matt,

Call Puller's Mobile Mechanical on 0417 709 499. He did the air on my rangie. I think it cost me $100 took him all of 20 mins and he comes to you. He'll check the system for you before he recharges it and He's a nice bloke to boot.
