Didn't think the 2 litre diesel would be 60kg heavier than the petrol as they were nearly the same engine. Just goes to show.
I see how the weight adds up.
Any one know the weights of a 90"?
Just to weigh in late - for Series 2a (from owner's manual) with water ,oil & 5gal fuel:-
88 Basic 1339 petrol, 1404 diesel
88 Station wagon 1488, 1557
109 basic 1497, 1547
109 Station wagon 1701, 1778
Series 3
88 basic 1339, 1405
88 wagon 1488, 1554
109 basic 1497, 1574
109 wagon 1702, 1779
Just about anything you do adds weight. A few extras - military chassis is quite a lot heavier than the standard one, extra fuel tank, tow bar (Ill bet not included in any of the above), hardtop probably is 50-100kg more than the canvas (note the swb wagon is 150kg more than the basic!) etc etc.
A lot of the things only weigh a few kg, but they all add up.

I don't have figures for the 2 litre diesel, only the 2.25. The two litre is probably a bit heavier though with wet sleeves.
Major parts of the extra weight (mass for the pedants) for the diesel would be - extra or bigger battery (2a had two six volt batteries), injection pump vs carburetter and distributor, heavier flywheel, heavier starter, injectors (heater plugs equivalent in weight to spark plugs) fuel filters, extra plumbing and wiring, but the major added weights would be the flywheel, battery and starter.

Fluffy weighs in at 2285Kgs if your interested !..
This was on the weighbridge exit from our tip with just me in the car ..
I'm 100kg of that total !
Not sure if thats what a P38A should be ..
Sorry JDNSW i ment the 2.25L diesel anyway. I see your point.
I imagine that the P38A would be about that weight as it has a lot of accessories and sound deadening and stuff.
Thanks everyone for the info.
