Even with what looked like 4 Bilsteins at each end! Did anyone else pick up the motor bogging down until the cam came in? A Wrong gear selection would eat time during a special stage in mud or sand. For a 5.3 litre engine I would expect a little more flexibility?
Still, Great vid, fantastic sounds, and makes me want to get motivated with the Mig and some Tube...

90" is too short I believe. Directional changes may be easier at lower speeds, but sacrificing high speed stability and handling over bumps is not fun!

I have a chassis and bulkhead, a 727 TF and a 1.4:1 transfer case, all that is required to start making a lightweight decent, reliable and competitive 100/110, except for the TIME! And the decision as to what engine to fit?? Small block Chev? or a revvy and unbreakable 3.5???

Still, I DO need a hobby...

The gear changes were at typical Land Rover pace too I noticed

Exactly the reason I'm going for a 'manualised' 727 TF.....We used one in a RR during the 1992 Aust Safari, the launching capabilities were fantastic, not to mention the fatigue factor. Think about the extra work req to gearshift through 11 hours a day of mixed competitive stages and transports, for 9days straight... I'd say your concentration levels wear down a fair bit after half this time. Physical exertion, even the seemingly little required to push in the clutch and shift the stick, adds up after a time and contributes to fatigue, which contributes to loss of concentration, which contributes directly to not finishing the event. The main reason I believe behind Brocky fitting power steering to a race car all those years ago...endurance.

---Then again, maybe I'm just plain lazy...

(If this works) here's an auto at work, occasionally bogs down a bit but otherwise sounds matched to the engine ok and probably not critical on a endurance event. Looks like BIG fun anyway, if I win the Sat night draw one day I'd love to give it a crack.
