SupporterTata will have a TDV6 & TDV8 at their disposal.
5 years of EU Defenders getting 2.4 Ford motors, to satisfy the terms of the contract and to appease the EU where I'm guessing anything over 2.5 gets extra tax.
Meanwhile, the colonial Defenders will race around with TDV6s across the sub continent, Africa and hopefully Australia. Unless you option it to TDV8 Auto.
Emissions laws will NEVER allow the return of the older style engines in ANY vehicle.

There is no way they will ever go back to an agricultural motor such as the 200/300Tdi, as they no longer meet emission standards in developed countries. Even importing the beasts (great as they may be) will not be possible.
Having said that, I hope the Defender continues in its present guise for many years to come.

It's funny, I often think people have a stuffed up view of India..
The brains trust, the workforce, etc... will (if they want it) allow Landrover aka Tata to build a world class product.
A product, built much more carefully than many of the poorly assembled versions from Solihull.
Don't discount that nation.... Or their ability to provide world class products.
