Tell your mate it's not an Ex Army "Tow Truck".
The Truck Wrecker 3/4 ton Landrover had a soft top and squared front guards.
I've still got the user handbook for one from when they went out of service.
REMLR has a copy that I forwarded on to them.

A chassis number would help clear a couple of things up if you have it .

Its a II or IIa, its not ex mil (doesnt have blackouts, blackout switching or any of the data plates or the brighter paint where they would have been)

Ive seen the dual wheel conversion before but thought it was limited to NZ for some of their mill stuff.... but everything that they have that I was aware of thats got the dual wheels also has a v8.

IT could be a farm conversion

    Hi there

Maybe shooting rig as it has a roof top hatch.
Good pick up - but like others have surgested suspect its a made up rig and apart from a brush bar theres nothing else to surgest it could be ex army............

A chassis number would help clear a couple of things up if you have it
It does have a very clean engine bay with heater.....

I have a small Land Rover parts book here some whare from the 50's that has the duel wheel conversion. They look like a long nut with a stud on the end. The out side rim goes on inside out. The S11 in the pic here looks to have diferent offset centers in the rear. I doubt it woud be a factoy fit up. Would need two spares. There is a few around with a small truck diff on duels (with frount prop removed) with a small lift jib working on PTO.
