Has not been a good week or too of late ,after the rear diff probs of easter and further replacement of all diff seals as well as replacing the rear diff (see seperate thread) Thumpers gearbox was developing some dreadfully terminal whines and clunks,that has resulted in the selling off of said Rangie
Loved that beast to bits,unfortunately it was falling to bits ,so in the imortal words of a certain game show, "its time to go" and it has ,will miss it , but ,have just picked up its replacement ,it is better suited for me as a work vehicle,unfortunately it isnt the deefer twinnie that i would loved to have got ,have ventured over to the other side and purchased a new navarra d22 twin cab str 2.5 turbo diesel (runs and ducks for cover)
So for now am roverless ,but have a few of thumpers spares floating around ,so maybe pick up an old series and drop some rangie bits into it for a play truck somewhere down the line,who knows

The deals on the D22 Navara's at present are excellent, I can understand the change.
Only thing though - if its a D22, how does it have the 2.5 turbo diesel? My mates DX and cousins STR D22's have the exploding ZD30.
Or has nissan done the cheap thing and pinched the YD25 from the D40 and stuck it in the new 08 D22's?

It is a re-release of the old shape with the running gear from the stx,plus a lovely bonnet scoop to boot,and as long as I am still welcome i will be hangin around, better folk here than the "other" sites

Why does the YD25 in D22 guise put out 98kW and 304Nm and the YD22 in D40 puts out 126kW and 401Nm? It's the same engine!! At least you know it'll handle a chipping

My brother has the older 3 litre version. It makes a really good work car. Not much room in the rear seat to carry anyone with long legs though. It has been totaly reliable and has got better to drive as the kms build up.
It does not have the character of a Rover but I guess alot of people would not understand that anyway. My brothers vehicle is getting around 800 city kms from a standard tank of around 80 litres fom memory and as he is also a builder the thing is always heavily loaded and has ladders on the roof rack.

Would be good to take it over a track you have done a fare few times in the Rangie, and see how it stacks up.

That will have to wait till i wear out the lovely hiway tread tyres,although a trip to Isa is on the cards for september ,so that may fix that problem........
