Doesn't really mean anything even if you DO get a $4 fare. Jetstar will probably dump you at your destination then not be able to fly you home for some reason.
A $4 Jetstar fare is only worth something if it has a travel insurance policy attached. If you read the fine print on any Jetstar ticket it basically says they are not obliged to get you to your destination by any particular time and the best they can do is refund you if they can't. Too bad if you're at Avalon airport in the styx outside Melbourne and needing to get home to Brisbane at 11:30pm. A $4 refund is not much help then.
You could go halves in a coke while you wait for the next full price flight
It would at least have been nice to get on and find the flights taken. I didn't even get that far.
Although as for the $4 fare refund thing, it probably wouldn't be worth the adverse publicity for them to do that. It would make it to every news format I'd think. Ripping off the 'Aussie Battler' or 'Mum and Dad travellers'.
yeah this scheme was a joke. myself, my gf and her mother all tried for about an hour to get some tickets. none of us managed to even see the webpage.
Our daughter managed to get the $35 dollar Jetstar fares to/from Vietnam so she bought for herself and her mother.
On the return journey from Ho Chi Minh, the flight was cancelled so Jetstar put them up in an hotel and got them out the next day. No extra cost.
We've also got cheap fares (during these sales) to Hobart, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast.

We got 10 tickets to Rocky and back to Bris. We are gonna stay at the Kepples. Money well spent I recon. If we do get in trouble the Landy may play a role. We had the same trouble getting through but me sisters boyfriend is a computer wiz and persisted till we got through.
Stoked.
With most airlines there's a big difference between what they may be legally obligated to do and what they'll actually do...as long as you're not the type to go ranting at the slighest issue, as you may then find you get the minimum level of servie or are at the back of the list with people they're helping.
I haven't used Jetstar, but fly all the time and have used budget airlines extensively in Europe, and most will make an effort to get you on the next flight they can. It's just that with the cheapie ones they don't have the contingency costs of the bigger ones factored into the ticket price, and don't tend to have as much in the way of spare planes, crew, etc dotted all over the place waiting to step in when a problem occurs.
The free/cheap tickets are a gimmick anyway - when you add taxes and hidden fees they usually work out being still good value but not "almost free"!
