A freind of my old man has a 99 Rangie (P38a I suppose) which has hit the deck due to an airbag problem.
Ive told them to check air lines etc but they dont know very much about it and Im afraid they are likely to do more damage than good if they start poking around too much.
What I need is to know if someone in the know who is up that way could either have a look and see if it will be a easy fix or if there is a trustworthy repairer up there that they can take it to.
Symtoms were that they were driving along and it just went down, they have tried resetting but it wont pump up and the pump is running (apparently).
Im not all that familiar with the air suspention set ups on these things but Im thinking it has popped a line or blown a bag or something by the sounds of it, more leaning toward a line seems it dropped all at once.
It has also had the pump replaced in the last 12 months if that helps.
Please get back to me ASAP as they are waiting for me to give them a call.

the compressor has flagged itself.
the easiest fix is to fit an air reciever plug onto the spare port on the tank, attach that to at least 110psi of compressed air and then start the vehicle. (make sure its on firm level ground first)
leave it running and then disconnect the computer that controls the airbag system. Its a big fat black plug and from memory its under the drivers seat.
I think pulling the air suspension fuses after it achieves level does the same thing and should be the easiest way.
I have plans on setting up and external jacking system so that you can do this from under the hood but atm its in the experimental stage and I need some voulenteers so i can work out plumbing options.

Im thinking it may be more an air line come off due to it has had the airpump replaced in the last 12 months so they may have not tightened everything up.
And the fact that it went down so quickly and all together.
But again I dont know anything about these systems so I will forward on what youve posted and see what happens.

Probably too late to be of any help, but cheap insurance for next time.
Similar problem occured on our 38a and as you only get three restarts before the ecu defaults to leaving you on your bump stops, it pays to have an overide, especially when your nearest dealer is 300km's away.
Find four, 6mm tee pieces. Local truck repairer should have them in stock. Next you need 4 tubless tyre valve holders. Buff on wire wheel down to the brass core. this core on most valve holders is, yep 6mm. You may have to shorten them a bit.
Assemble and fit at the valve body where the compressor is located, its the rear four off memory. As Dave said in his reply you have to disable the system by unplugging the relay under pass seat. Next step is to drag your butt down the road to the next servo and pump up each corner,can be up to 30psi difference to get it level.
This set up works well for a dead compressor, but will not help if you blow a bag or air line. But it will show up at which corner the leak is, in that it will be the only one to deflate.
The problem can still be in the valve body and if this is the case, just plug the front ailines together, then the rear using just 2 of the tee pieces. If you havn't used this type of connector, the airline just pushes in and you realease it by depressing the collar.
Can't show a photo on the car, sold it last month. It gave us buggerall trouble, had 280.000km's on it when we sold it.
