Still a hell of a long way ahead of little johnny. At least k-rudd is doing something. There is a reason johnny got his **** handed to him in the election.

So what possible advantage can a computer for every child have anyway. A computer has a useful lifespan of 3 years, maybe 5 if you settle for running outdated software. I'd rather see a smaller proportion of the money put into a reasonable computer lab that kids have access to that is properly managed and the hardware is replaced on a regular basis. Other wise it's just a waste of money.

That would seem to me a better option. Replacing after 3 years minimum, plus maintainance of laptops is so cheap.
I dunno, Ive always had a great dislike for him, so I cant really add anything positive to this thread.
Perhaps I have an advantage, being a 'maintenence manager' an' all, but I suspected all along that this would be the case. Ongoing costs are the killer hidden extra to any 'gift'.
Reminds me of the tractors we used to send to New Guinea but never any diesal!
