I like the "mistress" comment. It even makes sense!

Where we live now, the loungeroom window looks straight out to the carport. With the Landie parked just on the other side, I can always see it from the dining and lounge.

So I look at it all the time!!!

That's sweet - I have to go under the house and sit on a milk crate to look at mine.

I am most fortunate in that my partner loves the SIII. This was a concern of mine, but it turns out PJ (my partner) loves the whole idea of the hardtop being setup to just 'go bush' .

Still, I've only had the SIII a week and everyday I have found a reason to go to the shops, go to the tip, go for a drive etc.

If I put the lights on in the stables at night from the house, I can see her sleeping.... ummm, the SIII that is

I love having a Land Rover, and I can't wait to take her where my dad took me in his SIIA when I was growing up. That means all over WA!

At first I though I would love to be buried in her too, but then I thought, NO! I will be keeping this one till I'm gone, for sure, but she will always be in a restored state and so would like her to go to someone that will love her as much as I do.

    It's definitely a love/hate relationship.

    Love it when it's working....

Hate it when it's broken (like now)....

I learnt to drive in my step-father's IIA. He wasn't using it so I got to use it for my first three years of driving. I covered a lot of km in that bus and got a good intro to LR owner maintenance. The gearbox had to be rebuilt twice, I put in high ratio transfer gears, a third fuel tank etc etc. It was unique but it sure had character.

From there I bought the disco. I wanted a discovery, there was no question that I would be getting a Landie and as a single man being a 3 dr didn't bother me. I would have like a Tdi but they were out of my price range and I found the disco, right place, right time. It all just clicked. That was back in 1997 and it is the only car/4wd that I have ever owned.

Over the years I've tinkered a little with it, at first little things like improve the suspension, put on a bull bar, change the exhaust to release more of that lovely V8 song and fit LPG. Then I started going out bush with you guys and have gone further down the 'bush vehicle' path. As a result, the disco doesn't get driven every day, maybe once a week but it oozes character and there is no question that it is a 4wd that ventures off the bitumen.

I'll hang onto it until one of us keels over. Then it'll be a matter of what Landie to get next.

To be able to get up and go anywhere here (in Australia) with this world famous marque and seriously capable vehicle under our bums. Bloody hell I love my Landie!

Now, in all honesty, who doesnt spend a few seconds/minutes a day just looking at it (glass of red here is optional) thinking about goin' exploring somewhere, who cares where, could even be the local 7eleven or just to get more fuel or High Country or Cape York or Simpson,....the potential, WOW!

ok, ..passion partially vented, now where's my woman.......!

well guys you will be happy to know that when it came to really selling the bloody thing l just couldn't
l said it had been sold but the fellow that was buying it was really wasting time getting the money together and it was just a little time to long it gave me time to get all sentimental and l pulled the plug bloody thing !!!!

lve decided to keep my little baby, l do love the bloody thing but its costing me a f%^$&^% fortune but its just something about the thing that sucks me in ever time and now i think of it thank Christ he did stall

I would have to say its a love/hate thing with my S1, some days I'll go out and start workin' on her and she'll just be as stubbon as ever, other days, I'll go out and work on her and she co-operates with me, and I can get a bit done with her, I'll never sell her, and where she rests right now I can see her from every room on the west side of our place,
