Where to get Gluvine in Brisbane?

Also known as Hot Mulled Wine, it's beautiful in the chilly conditions we experienced today.

Anyone know anywhere in Brisbane to get it, or for that matter a good recipe to make it myself?

Hosting a small family get together this Saturday and would like to have some on standby

    1. 1

Into the pot, pour the wine.
    2. 2

      add the cinnamon sticks.
    3. 3

Cut the Lemon and the Orange in half. Take the whole cloves and insert them into the RIND of the fruits 5 in each half. add to the wine.
    4. 4

Bring just to a boil and then reduce to low and simmer, COVERED for about 45 minutes.
    5. 5

Turn off heat and remove from hot burner.
    6. 6

Remove lemon and orange halves, remove cloves and then squeeze the juices back into the wine.
    7. 7

You then add the RUM and stir it into the wine. You can either add the sugar to the whole pot or add sugar to taste to each mug or heat proof glass.
    8. 8

This will make you sleepy, so do not drive after you have consumed this drink.
    9. 9

This is a stay at home and get comfy and feel warm all over drink.
    10. 10

Unused portions can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 months and reheated as you wish. (Stove or Micro wave).
    11. 11

Put pot back on very very low burner to keep warm or use an alcohol burner to keep it hot.

I make mulled wine on every camping trip - imy simple recipe is a bottle of red, mixed with one third a bottle of brandy. Then add cloves and cinnamon and heat - but don't boil. Great out of enamel mugs!

But I also enjoy spiced mead - most bottle shops sell "Maxwell's Mead" which is a fermented honey drink with spices that again, you heat but not boil.

These types of drinks are wonderful in the cooler weather.

This is called glogg in the Scandinavian countries. I assume you want an alcoholic drink so here are a couple of recipes.

    Basic glogg.

    1 bottle dry red wine

    1 bottle akvavit

    1 cup sugar

    1 stick cinnamon

    5 cloves

    6 cardamom seeds, crushed

    1 orange peel spiral

    1 cup slivered almonds

    1/2 cup raisins

Put everything into a saucepan, stir to blend, let stand 3-4 hours, heat but do not boil, light with amatch and pour burning into heatproof cups. Skol!

    Danish Winter Coffee

Make a percolator of very strong black coffee. Half fill a cup or mug with the coffee, add sugar to your taste, place a silver coin in the bottom of the cup, pour akvavit into the cup until the coin is visible. Skol!

    Mumma

1 bottle (stubby) dark beer (Toohey's Old is our nearest)

1 stubby lager ( xxxx, or even Carlton p##s)

1 stubby ale ( a local pale ale is closest)

    1 bottle akvavit or gin

Serve hot not boiled, or chilled as you wish. Skol!

After drinking any of these, do not drive or operate machinery, and please be careful on stairs otherwise you may end up meeting Missus Numpty as a PFO patient..

    it was POTENT

I'll see if I can get the recipe from our mate
Pretty much as I remember, some times it was made with a burgundy (IIRC) and a Rose. Orange juice sugar and plenty of OP rum. Rum was poured over sugar and flamed (well a little bit was flamed).

Mothers Milk a potent brew on a cold night

It would appear pics have gone away for a while
