Why would someone abandon such a nice Discovery?

if u look at the first photo you will see the guy tried to make a fence out of them

They were the thing to have right through the 1960s - the Jap stuff suffered because they were only 3 speed gearboxes.

By the end of the series 2a, Land Rover was under Lord Stokes with the British Leyland Corp and going nowhere while the Japanese were going from strength to strength with improvements in engine, transmissions and comfort.

    hi
the pic of the series 1 with the "roof that blew off in a storm",it is on a property near coen.the property has been handed down through the family, the yarns they tell are unbelievable."mum used to take us to school in it & if she wasnt careful she would blow all the oil out of the air cleaner,we would see clouds of smoke coming up through the water behind us,then it was my job in the arvo to fill it up again"....& they go on&on&on........

he has also got a graveyard of old tojos mostly traybacks

they did a lot of chasing & catching bullocks with the tojos.they liked the 3 speed box as they could leave it in one gear most of the time& the3 litre engine put all the power to the ground.they didnt like the later models as they had to many gears & to much wheelspin.

    those were the days

ohhh & the 3 speed box wasnt much good for anything else
& the landys...you could never stop them they just kept going&going

    cheers paul
