Thread: Discovery 1 or Series IIA

If I wanted a car to restore, I could keep my son's Hillman Super Minx wagon which I'm currently driving. It's really quite fun to drive - and it's already registered. But, alas, that has to go as well along with his Civilian and at least a couple of his motorbikes.

If you want an '87 Civilian with less than a genuine 9000km on the clock (registered) .......

or a Honda CB350-Four cafe racer (registered) .....

or a Suzuki GS1100G .......

Keep the P38, to much time and money invested in it for little return, plus there a zillion timed nicer than a D1, you only do road touring, so LPG is wasy to find

Sell the D1 as its worth money, whats the IIA worth? fug all, so no recouping money to spend elswhere

If it were me I'd keep the Disco. Well maybe I'd flog the lot and buy a V8 Disco.

However could you really bear to part with your P38? All that work and money?
As you say you are not into rock hopping so the P38 would be by far the more comfortable highway cruiser.

Unless you just want to cut your losses on the P38 and keep the reliable (???) 300Tdi Disco.

Disco's are nice but they don't ride as smooth as a P38A on-road or off-road. The S2A has a lot of street/bush-cred with the LR stalwarts but it is still no match for the sheer comfort of the P38A (or even an early 80's RRC).
Plus you have the best of both worlds in the P38A - petrol and LPG, and all that power of the 4.6.

But... if you do decide to sell the Rangie and are willing to sell the rear bar/tyre carrier seperately, please let me know.

I guess that you've tested it, but I think that the Disco is too short to be able to take a "bed". I found it so (even without the cargo barrier) and I'm sure that you are taller than I. (Or have I misunderstood your concept of a "camper"?)

Maybe convert it into a 1 seat Disco.

There are no off-road accessories for a P38A but plenty of stuff for Discos. I could even fit my Warn winch to the Disco (not the one being raffled)!

Keep the D1, get rid of the gutless motor and stick 4.6 in it
