Here' my version of the Provent Install. To fit into the tappet cover, I used a 19mm copper elbow and straight joiner, silver soldered onto a steel plate and using a thick o-ring as a seal. I used 19mm to 25mm adapters and some 25mm hose to plumb in the OEM pipework into it, and just cut the OEM drain hose, trimmed it down about 40mm , put in the one way valve and connected it to the new drain vent. The big inlet pipe looks a bit pinched on the photos, but its open.

The hose adapters are ABS irrigation stuff, so I'll buy some brass ones later on and fit up the bend a bit more. The Provent is also just sitting on top of the lift pump - held down by cable ties but I'll make a proper bracket when I replace the adapters. It is close to the bonnet lining, but it's lower than the OEM vent.

By the way Ben, my form does not have when you would like the filter element back. Do you want to PM or email me how long I should keep this element in for?

    Iain,

I really like this install, original looks, and straight forward. Only issue will be making up a bracket to hold the filter housing (I think this is needed). Maybe an L bracket.

On the form you got from Ben, there should have been a kms limit after which you return. Mine was 10,000 kms.

    Cheers,

    Damien

I will definitely make up a bracket before I go off-roading again - and I'll find some paint to paint the copper tubing with :-). I don't use the OEM lift pump - got and electric one for priming the system and it's much easier. I'll make up something that blanks it off and hold up the Provent - especially since it has a slight oil leak.

I re-checked the form, mine has nothing written "Remove and return element" line.

Im sure Ben will confirm, but as far as I understand you get asked for the filter element when he wants it.

Thats pretty much what I originally had in mind but I had trouble with the drain hose fouling on the injector lines so I scrapped that Idea and went the other way as the bracket I made up made it too high to shut the bonnet.

I would deffinatly be the best place to put it as all the connections are nice and close.

I was thinking if it worked well that I would tap out the hole in the rocker cover/head and fit a threaded 90* 1" brass barb and just use a 3/4" x 1" joiner to the main vent hose and just run a whole new 1/2" hose to the sump with the check valve fitted.

    Nice neat and simple.

I have to look at it again and see if I can redesign but I'd better do the timing belt first or Matt will get snappy again

Unfortunately it won't fit there on a Defender, (that's where the air cleaner sits) but I'm working on replacing the OE cyclone too. (after I finish replacing the valves stem seals, better get the install tool finished, and I still have a few quotes to do too )

(And yes, the Provent will have to be removed to do an air cleaner service, although I could just re-fit the K&N )
