old age catching up with you John?
Don't worry, I do silly things all the time.

Yesterday I started servicing the County. I drained the oil, replaced the oil filter, cleaned the air cleaner, and then started to refill the sump. It takes about 70 strokes of the pump. At 45, I paused for a break, and I could hear this trickling sound. I then spotted the sump plug on the bench.........
This is the second time I've done it!

Something else Ive done ONCE and will NEVER do again.
Fit an oil filter without looking at the old one.Was changing the oil on a Falcoon I had with a hotted up motor, inc high volume oil pump. When the filter came off its rubber seal remained stuck to the block.I can tell you the filter will not even look like sealing with 2 seals in place.Lost 3 litres in the time it took to start the motor, get out and chech for leaks, yes it was spraying everywhere under loads of pressure and shutting it down.Biggest pain was living out of town on a farm.Didnt get the correct replacement oil sent out for 3 days and it was our only vehicle.

I made the 1 millionth AULRO post
Could be worse:
Just think, hotted up v8 windsor (25,000 worth) in a VL calais. Ran in new cam. Drove home. Drove back to work. Half way back, oil pressure gauge drops to nothing. Think nothing of it...electricians...must be a sender fault. Mechanic - struggle vainly to fine tune tappets (with cam lobes worn off). Idling on hoist...stall...time for a new motor.
I am glad I didn't have to tell the owner...
At least you have given everything a nice flush with new oil !!!![]()
Go on Relay, take a photo with the current day's Warragul Gazette in the engine bay before this boils over.
